POSITION SPECIFICATION
The Hospitalist Regional Medical Director will:
1. Review daily clinical quality, operational and financial metrics of each site within the region including month-end reports and data decks
2. Meet on a regular basis with each individual hospital CEO or their designee
3. Attend monthly hospitalist department meetings as well as other relevant hospital, administrative and clinical meetings
4. Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with the client administrative teams and supporting the local on-site director while serving as a Benchmark ambassador
5. Assist and drive new business development efforts including participation in RFP creation and development, interviews and contract negotiation
6. Work with hospitals to improve their hospitalist services through the engagement of Benchmark Affiliates
7. Meet with Benchmark management on a monthly basis to review the state of each hospitalist program and focus on priorities of the organization
8. Establish the annual strategic plan for each site in the region and meet monthly with site directors to review performance and adjust plan as required
9. Work with the recruiting team to create a hospitalist provider pool
10. Interview potential hospitalist provider candidates
11. Interview and recruit medical directors for hospitalist sites
12. Work with site directors/schedulers on making sure shifts are covered at least three months in advance
13. Lead physician relationship management including retention and satisfaction initiatives, helping instill the Benchmark culture and principals
14. Represent and potentially present Benchmark or its affiliates’ at conferences
15. Carry a pager or other means to respond in a reasonable and timely basis when an on-call Benchmark Administrator is required
16. Work clinical shifts pursuant to Independent Contractors Agreements with Hospitalist Entities in order to maintain an understanding of “on the ground” issues while preserving clinical capability and presence
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
· MD/DO with unrestricted medical license required
· Board Certification in Internal Medicine/Family Medicine Required
Experience:
· Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice
· Participation in a leadership role in a hospitalist organization
· Experience within a health care delivery system with three to five years of management experience required
Requirements:
· Direct reporting to CMO and Corporate Leadership Team
· Must be willing to travel
· Will be required to work clinical shifts
· Possess interpersonal/listening skills to interact effectively with individuals of all backgrounds, experience and educational levels
Compensation:
· Clinical hours to be paid at each sites average rate
· Administration duties to be paid through stipend or revenue share
