System Chief, Division of Hospital Medicine

Baystate Health is an academic affiliate of and serves as the Western Massachusetts campus of the University of Massachusetts Chan School of Medicine.
Position Highlights
The System Chief, Division of Hospital Medicine will provide the visionary clinical and administrative leadership for hospital medicine services across Baystate Health. Reporting to the Chair, Department of Medicine, the System Chief will oversee nearly 115 physicians and 42 Advanced Practice Providers across the system. The Hospital Medicine Division at Baystate Health has developed an excellent reputation for high quality care, collaboration, and responsiveness with physician colleagues and nursing colleagues across Baystate Health and the System has supported increased investment in hospital medicine in recent years to enable best practice staffing levels and professional development programs.
The System Chief has direct leadership responsibility and accountability for Hospital Medicine clinical service at all Baystate Health Hospitals. Additionally, the System Chief will have the opportunity to advance the academic mission of the Department of Medicine and Baystate Health and as the leader of the largest Division within the Department of Medicine, they will have an opportunity to play a key quality and safety leadership role across the Department of Medicine and the Health System.
Qualifications
Candidates will have at least seven to ten years postgraduate clinical experience in hospital medicine and three or more years of successful, progressive leadership as a medical director, division chief, or other relevant role in a community teaching hospital/health system or academic health system environment. Experience in a multi-hospital, integrated delivery system is strongly preferred. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in Massachusetts and be board certified ideally in internal medicine and/or their medical specialty. Academically, candidates should be eligible for appointment as Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the UMass Chan Medical School – Baystate.
