Senior Medical Director of Hospital Medicine Services- - Emerson Hospital

WittKieffer has partnered with Emerson Hospital to identify a seasoned physician to serve as its Senior Medical Director (SMD) of Hospital Medicine Services. The SMD will have responsibility for leading Hospital Medicine Services and, in collaboration with the Acute Care Leadership Team (a multidisciplinary leadership group that includes the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, VP for Quality and Safety, and key directors), overseeing an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to acute care medicine services.

Emerson is a community hospital in the Boston area closely affiliated with the Mass General Brigham Healthcare System and with an outstanding reputation for quality, safety, and patient experience. For 2021 Emerson was identified as a Top Hospital by Leapfrog, a distinction given to less than 5% of hospitals nationwide and carries a 5 Star rating.

The SMD will be the Senior Network Physician Liaison for Hospital Medicine Services with the Mass General Brigham (MGB) Healthcare system, working in collaboration with colleagues across the MGB system to support and innovate care of acute care patients with a focus on quality, safety, and value.  The SMD will also serve as Senior Physician for Acute Care Services for the Emerson Physician Hospital Organization (EPHO), which will entail collaborating on select population health measures and management programs with MGB and EPHO colleagues.

The SMD will report to the Senior VP for Clinical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Emerson Hospital and serve on the Acute Care Leadership Team.  As part of their network responsibilities and reflecting Emerson’s close clinical affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) they will be supported in obtaining an appointment in the MGH Department of Medicine.

They will be a physician with appropriate board certification and experience in an administrative capacity.
