Associate/Professor of Clinical and Division Director - Hospital Medicine

Job Overview

In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, UC College of Medicine's doctors are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Internal Medicine is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.

The Department of Internal Medicine is currently searching for a Division Director in a newly established Division of Hospital Medicine. The current Section of Hospital Medicine will be separated from the Division of General Internal Medicine, where it has grown over the past 18 years to include more than 40 faculty physicians and additional APPs. This individual will lead the division in alignment with our tripartite missions of clinical care, research, and education. This individual will support robust residency and medical student training and provide mentoring and administrative support to those delegated to direct this endeavor. The division director will oversee and support the clinical, administrative, and academic activities of faculty physicians and advanced practice providers. The individual will have inpatient care and inpatient teaching responsibilities at UC Health facilities.

The successful candidate will provide fiscal leadership, faculty and staff development, recruitment of faculty and staff, and will foster philanthropic stewardship to the division. This individual will be charged with nurturing an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Faculty rank is commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions
The Division Director will be responsible for:

  • Growth and development of the highest quality clinical, research and educational programs within the Division. Oversight of divisional finances. Setting annual academic, clinical, and research goals. Recruitment/mentorship of faculty and staff. Annual performance evaluations. Participation in Department of Internal Medicine Chair's Council of Champions, and other committees and task forces as assigned. In addition, the Division Director should be highly responsive to health system efforts to improve quality and value-based care. The individual should be supportive of new initiatives and be open-minded to efforts that might expand beyond our local campus to other surrounding areas.

Minimum Requirements
Prior to effective date of appointment, individual must have:

  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalent. Completion of a three-year Internal Medicine residency. Board certification in Internal Medicine or hospital Medicine. Ability to acquire license to practice in the State of Ohio. Candidates must have leadership and management experience as an academic hospitalist and scholarly achievements in research, quality, patient safety, or medical education. Current academic rank of Associate Professor or above, or commensurate experience.
