Lincoln Pediatric Hospitalists (LPH), a partnership between Bryan Health, CHI Health-St. Elizabeth, Children’s Hospital & Medical Center-Omaha, and Lincoln Medical Education Partnership, is actively recruiting a Medical Director to join our team in Lincoln, NE. We provide general inpatient pediatric services, sub-specialty co-management, and nursery care at two community hospitals, Bryan Health and CHI Health-St. Elizabeth. Our hospitalists also provide education and training to residents of the Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program.

The Medical Director has the overall responsibility for ensuring services and programs provided through LPH are patient- and family-focused, clinically appropriate, operationally efficient, and achieve effective patient outcomes through the delivery of safe, high-quality clinical care.  The Medical Director’s total time dedicated to these duties will be .3 FTE. The remaining .7 FTE will be devoted to clinical duties as a Pediatric Hospitalist.

Responsibilities as Medical Director include:

  • Assist in the recruitment, mentoring, and semiannual evaluations of LPH physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Ensure FPPE and OPPE requirements for provider staff are met
  • Supervise planning and execution of clinical service scheduling for all Lincoln campuses
  • Create a culture of patient safety in an environment that promotes clear communication across disciplines
  • Collaborate with the Nursing/Operational Directors at Bryan Health and CHI Health-St. Elizabeth to define operational standards to achieve optimum service delivery/systems, care/processes, and performance objectives
  • Develop and maintain the annual scorecard metrics for the LPH practice including measurement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Designer Metric components
  • Ensure clinical policies and procedures are based on the best evidence, consistently implemented, and are reviewed and revised as needed and scheduled to be in compliance with external and internal regulatory standards
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance relationships to strengthen internal and external constituencies among service lines, hospital personnel, and community pediatricians

Responsibilities as Pediatric Hospitalist include:

 

  • Provide normal newborn care including performing circumcisions and frenotomies
  • Authorize direct admissions, care, and discharge of pediatric-age patients
  • Provide direct patient care for pediatric patients in a hospital setting
  • Evaluate, interpret, and coordinate information to make decisions and recommendations regarding   patient care
  • Provide education, consultation, or intervention to patients and their families
  • Assure appropriate specialty consultation is requested and carried out when necessary for patients
  • Provide pediatric consultation for ED when requested
  • Assist with the education and training of residents
  • Opportunities for QI initiatives and hospital committee involvement
  • Provide after-hours (nights, weekends, and holidays) “on-call” coverage as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O. PALS and NRP certified Board certified in Pediatrics and/or Pediatric Hospital Medicine Possess excellent clinical and communication skills, along with a strong commitment to providing excellent team-oriented care Eligible to work in the United States
