Division of Hospital Medicine Physician

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University seeks a hospitalist physician for our Inpatient Internal Medicine Services in Richmond, Virginia and Tappahannock, Virginia. Primary duties include the care of patients on hospitalist-led inpatient services including admissions, daily management, and discharges. Additional duties may include co-management of surgical patients, attending on a General Medicine consult service, staffing traditional housestaff teaching services, performing bedside procedures, and co-management of rehabilitation patients. Individuals in this position will work closely with advanced practice providers as well as learners from multiple professions. Clinical shifts are designed to promote wellbeing and ensure balance with out-of-work priorities. Individuals in this position will also have the opportunity and support to pursue academic and other career goals consistent with their own aspirations.

Qualifications: Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine, direct experience managing complex inpatients, solid understanding of the hospitalist role and function, an interest in teaching and growth in an academic setting, and demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
