Medical Director ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders:

Denver Health Medical Center is recruiting for a Medical Director for our nationally renowned ACUTE Center of Excellence, a 30 bed medical stabilization unit for those people suffering from extreme forms of eating disorders.  The Medical Director of ACUTE is responsible for the ongoing coordination and oversight of the medical and dietary services provided to eating disorders and malnutrition patients at Denver Health’s ACUTE. This includes medical and ancillary service oversight, patient care, multidisciplinary staff meetings, faculty development, clinical outreach, marketing outreach and coordination and communication between ACUTE and referring persons and organizations. The position is provided with 50% protected time and effort for Department administration and outreach.  The remainder of the role is dedicated to either direct clinical care or other funded work (research or other external funding).  The position will report directly to Denver Health’s Chief Medical Officer, with administrative reporting to ACUTE’s Joint Management Committee (JMC), a 7 member committee comprised of members from DHHA and Eating Recovery Center.   He/she will have an academic reporting relationship to the relevant University of Colorado School of Medicine Department Chair exclusively for academic advancement

ACUTE has been the premier medical stabilization unit that has been nationally recognized across the country for 25 years.  As an institution, Denver Health is a nationally recognized integrated health care system which includes: a large safety-net acute-care hospital, an acclaimed Level 1 trauma center (Ernest E Moore MD Shock Trauma Center), a large network of community health centers, the city and county public health department (Denver Public Health), the sole city-wide advanced life support EMS agency (Denver Paramedics) and a regional poison center (Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center).  Denver Health is a profoundly mission-driven organization that has provided more than $3.3 billion in care for the uninsured in the last ten years. Denver Health is a leader in performance and quality improvement and remains financially secure, in part, due to its nationally recognized implementation of lean principles in healthcare.

Benefits of practicing at Denver Health include:
