The Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics-Pediatric Hospital Medicine, University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, Tampa is seeking a full-time, Pediatric hospital physician. The position is primarily clinical with involvement in the residency teaching program. Duties include in-house patient care based at St. Joseph Children's Hospital in Tampa, FL. There is an opportunity for participation in the quality program and other educational and hospital-based leadership opportunities with the ability to strengthen your clinical assessment without the requirement of hospital fellowship training. St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is a tertiary care, 120-bed (including PICU & PCIU) hospital located in the heart of in Tampa. The hospitalist program is staffed by approximately 5 FTE daily and cares for routine and medically complex children. A Florida medical license will be required prior to assuming the position. The appointment is non-tenure earning and the salary is negotiable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position includes the management of pediatric patients at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.
  • Responsible for providing direct medical care to patients in a hospital or medical clinic. Typically reports to the head of a medical department. Typical duties include the diagnosis, treatment, operation, or prescription for any human disease, pain, injury, deformity, or other physical or mental condition.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate administrator of a State university.  Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities.  May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

  • The successful candidate must have a medical degree
  • Board-certified or eligible in pediatrics
  • Candidates must have a current FL medical license or be eligible for an unrestricted full medical license in the state of Florida


PREFERRED:

  • Inpatient hospital experience
  • Board-certified 
  • Completed fellowship training in hospital medicine.
