Description: Virginia Commonwealth (VCU) University School of Medicine invites applications for the position of Associate Chair of Research within the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine. The school seeks a collaborative, innovative scholar to lead efforts in research within the Division of Hospital Medicine and with peers from the rest of the Department, School, University, and Health System. This person should be inspired by improving the care of hospitalized patients and by working across disciplines to develop better approaches to care.
Qualifications: The successful candidate is required to have a doctoral degree and experience in health services research. The successful candidate need not be a clinician though, if they are a clinician, they must be able to engage in clinical practice as a hospitalist. They should have demonstrated independence as a scholar and the ability to secure funding to support research efforts, to mentor more junior individuals, and to publish in peer-reviewed journals. They should also have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
