The Division of Hospital Medicine at Cincinnati Children's is widely recognized for excellence in clinical care, research, education, and systems improvement, as well as its focus on health equity. The director will:

  • Set an innovative course for the long-term growth and fiscal vitality of the division, leading, and enabling continued development of transformational clinical and research programs
  • Recruit and retain exceptional and diverse faculty
  • Identify emerging and new areas of emphasis and promise
  • Enable world-class clinical and educational programming
  • Prioritize mentorship and develop/refine the academic skills of existing faculty and clinical staff to fulfill the division’s mission and responsibilities, including promoting our culture of collaboration and patient-centered care

Qualifications and Experience

  • M.D., or D.O., with board certification in Pediatrics or, Pediatric Hospital Medicine preferred, additional training and/or advanced degree (MPH, Ph.D., etc.) is a plus
  • Ability to obtain State of Ohio Medical Board licensure
  • Rank of Associate Professor or Professor with eligibility for appointment as affiliated faculty with the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine
  • Strong record of accomplishment in leadership, management, and financial budgeting experience, and skills in resource management, planning, and facilitation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain trust with all stakeholders, including trainees
  • Demonstration of sustained excellence in research productivity, clinical care, and/or mentorship and development of trainees and junior faculty. Expertise in clinical operations and/or attainment of extramural research funding are expected. 
  • Experience in a complex, integrated academic medical setting
  • Commitment to uphold and enhance principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with Cincinnati Children’s culture and beliefs

  • Areas of emphasis: 1) health equity, 2) transitions of care, 3) high value care, 4) children with medical complexity, 5) patient and family engagement, and 6) precision medication dosing
  • Published about 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts in 2023
  • Received >$2,000,000 in extramural grant funding in 2023
  • Robust research infrastructure via support staff and established collaborations
  • Faculty serve in editorial leadership roles in many relevant leading journals
  • A leader in systems improvement and educational scholarship
  • Renowned 3-year Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship since 2011 and a Clinical Informatics Fellowship
