Mary Washington Healthcare has an immediate opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our team as Hospital Service Line Medical Director. This role offers a unique blend of clinical practice and administrative responsibilities, making it an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a multifaceted role.

As the Hospital Service Line Medical Director, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that our clinical practices and operations meet regulatory standards while maintaining the highest quality of patient care. You will collaborate with operational and medical staff leadership to provide guidance on clinical needs, budget management, and financial performance, driving efficiency and excellence in care delivery.

One of the most exciting aspects of this role is the opportunity to maintain a representative clinical practice in hospital medicine while actively participating in initiatives to improve operational efficiencies and cost containment.

In addition to strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to engage constructively with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders, to be considered for this position, we require:

  • Completion of a medical degree (MD/DO) and residency and/or fellowship training in a primarily inpatient-based specialty from an AMA-approved program or other institution approved by the Medical Staff and Board of MWHC.
  • Certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board in the physician’s primary specialty.
  • At least two to five (2–5) years of experience in leadership or administrative positions in healthcare, with in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry including finance, legislative policy, economics, service delivery, and trends in the insurance and consumer markets.
  • Ability to recognize the complex needs of multiple customers and proactively recognize and address those needs.
  • At least two to three (2–3) years of experience with an integrated electronic medical record.
  • Graduate education in health policy and management, business administration, or similar programs is strongly beneficial.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Virginia.
  • Active DEA license.
  • AHA BLS and ACLS Provider CPR.
  • Must be eligible for participation in Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurances.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
