West Virginia University School of Medicine Eastern Campus seek internists for multiple full-time faculty hospitalist positions. Ranks available are Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor The successful candidate will practice in Berkeley County, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Internal Medicine / Hospitalist Medicine. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows and will take a lead inpatient role in the new internal medicine residency program

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed an Internal Medicine residency program and be board certified / eligible in Internal Medicine. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

This position is on the academic inpatient hospitalist service at Berkeley Medical Center, with the expectation of 26 weeks annually of clinical duties. Night coverage is primarily admissions with cross coverage responsibilities. We are a growing academic hospitalist section that affords the faculty member teaching opportunities with internal medicine residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers in rounding teams covering inpatient medicine admissions. Hospitalist faculty will also participate in didactic conferences and have access to scholarly and research opportunities. BMC is a 200 bed teaching hospital in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, with a 19 bed ICU, cardiac catheterization lab, interventional radiology and the full range of medical and surgical consultative services. There are active Neurosurgical, Cardiovascular, and Oncology programs via our Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, Heart and Vascular Institute, and Cancer Institute respectively.  Additional tertiary care support is provided by a strong collaborative relationship with Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Berkeley County is located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, a rapidly growing part of the state, just over an hour and a half from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD with easy access to two major international airports.  It is consistently rated as one of the best small metropolitan areas in the country for both lifestyle and business climate. The area offers access to large city amenities in a safe, family-friendly environment. There are an excellent school system and an abundance of restaurants, historical locations, and outdoor recreational activities.
