Are You Ready to Lead Hospitalist Medicine into the Future?
At Rochester Regional Health (RRH), we don’t just treat illnesses—we treat people. We believe in uplifting humanity through care that reaches every community with a vision to become a national model of health and healing. Our hospitalist division is critical to our patient care, and we’re looking for a leader who is not just ready to manage but is inspired to redefine hospitalist medicine across a diverse network of hospitals.
Why Hospitalist Leadership, Why Now?
Hospital medicine is at a defining moment, and the role of the hospitalist has never been more crucial. With more than 60,000 hospitalists nationwide, according to the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM), the specialty has grown rapidly to become the foundation of inpatient care. As patient complexity rises and healthcare systems face increasing demands for operational efficiency, the need for strong, visionary leadership is greater than ever.
At Rochester Regional Health, with over 71,000 inpatient visits per year and a revenue exceeding $3.2B, we are not content to react to these changes—we are committed to shaping the future. We need a leader who will take the reins of our hospitalist services across our multi-hospital system, someone who can align teams, streamline operations, and push the boundaries of what's possible in patient care. This role is an opportunity to do more than manage—it's a chance to innovate, inspire, and lead the transformation of hospital medicine across our region.
This is your moment. Don’t just witness the change—lead it, drive it, and ensure that hospital medicine reaches its full potential. At RRH, we’re committed to making that vision a reality, with the resources, talent, and mission to uplift healthcare for our communities. Be the leader who makes that impact.
The Challenge & the Opportunity
Hospitalist medicine at RRH offers something different—a platform to shape the future. This role is about more than leadership—it’s about leaving your mark on a high-demand field. At RRH, you’ll have the autonomy to build a hospitalist division that serves the full spectrum of patient needs, from small rural hospitals to major tertiary centers.
Who You Are
You’re more than a hospitalist leader—you’re a visionary. You see beyond the day-to-day practice and understand the value of system-level impact. You’re excited by the potential to grow a service line, mentor a diverse team, and provide innovative care in an environment that values collaboration, flexibility, and autonomy.
- Leadership Maturity and Collaborative Decision-Making: You are a proven clinical leader who demonstrates maturity, a collaborative approach, and a focus on sustainable department growth. You are an excellent communicator, results-oriented, and rational, with the ability to advocate for system strategic needs while maintaining a balance between long-term goals and short-term priorities.
- Health System or Multi-Hospital Experience: You have experience in a health system or across multiple hospital settings and possess the ability to manage a high patient load, delivering a wide range of care. Your background demonstrates your capacity to scale hospitalist services and implement quality initiatives.
- Ability to Identify Strategic Priorities and Establish Clinical Standards: You are adept at identifying opportunities for improving care models, reducing length of stay, and addressing quality metrics. You have the expertise to set clinical standards and ensure alignment with system-wide strategic goals.
- Champion for Care Innovation and Leadership Development: You identify opportunities to leverage technology and innovate care models to expand access and quality of hospitalist care across the system. You embrace mentorship and leadership development, building the next generation of hospitalist leaders.
What You’ll Do
- Transform Hospitalist Care: Lead and expand hospitalist services across a wide range of settings, from small rural hospitals to major tertiary centers. Shape the future of hospitalist medicine at RRH by driving clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and system-wide alignment.
- Embrace Innovation: Leverage the latest technology and quality improvement initiatives to optimize inpatient care delivery and reduce hospital-acquired conditions.
- Lead with Impact: Mentor hospitalists and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to deliver care that’s not only clinically sound but also compassionate. Champion the use of APPs to expand access and efficiency across the system where all providers work at the top of their license.
- Expand Access & Care: Build upon our commitment to providing hospitalist services where they are needed, reducing reliance on locum tenens, and creating a fully staffed hospitalist team across nine hospitals.
Why This Role is Unique
Hospitalist medicine is one of the most in-demand specialties, with a broad impact on patient care across every facet of the health system. At RRH, we bridge the gap between system-based care and clinical autonomy. Here you won’t be limited by the constraints of small practice management—you’ll have the resources to truly make an impact on the lives of our patients and the future of hospitalist medicine.
System-Wide Reach: You’ll have visibility across nine hospitals, impacting more than 71,000 inpatient visits annually and a growing hospital medicine division consisting of over 130+ physicians and 90 APPs. Lead system-wide initiatives that make hospitalist care more accessible and operationally efficient.
Autonomy Meets Support: Work in an environment that values your expertise and gives you the freedom to shape your practice while benefiting from the resources of a larger system and part of a multi-specialty Medicine service line.
Growth & Innovation: As demand for hospitalist services grows, so will your department. This is your opportunity to scale your vision across a robust health network.
Financially strong healthcare organization ensuring long-term stability: We offer a competitive compensation package with robust benefits plan designed to attract and retain top talent, reflecting our commitment to supporting the well-being and success of our team.
