Job Details

Join a busy acute care team at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. This locum tenens opportunity with SCP Health covers ongoing hospitalist shifts beginning Aug 1, 2026. Travel, lodging, and malpractice are provided.

Schedule and coverage
  • Days and nights available: 10-hour day shifts (7a-5p) and 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a)
  • Typical cadence: 7-on/7-off
  • Coverage reason: clinical coverage for hospitalists

Facility snapshot
  • Large acute care hospital with 300+ beds, including 40+ ICU/PCU beds and a partially open ICU
  • Epic electronic medical record
  • Robust multispecialty backup: Cardiology, Nephrology, Vascular and CT Surgery, Pulmonary/Critical Care, Gastroenterology, Infectious Disease, Urology, ENT, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Neurology, Radiology, and Interventional Radiology
  • Dedicated NP/PA admitter plus advanced practice providers; code/rapid response teams available (you may participate as needed)

What you'll do
  • Deliver comprehensive hospitalist care for medicine and cardiac patients across acute care, PCU, and ICU settings
  • Supervise and coordinate with NP/PAs and other providers involved in admissions and inpatient care
  • Collaborate closely with specialty services for consults and handoffs
  • Support hospital code and rapid response efforts when required; primary response teams are in place

Qualifications and requirements
  • Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine (ABIM), Family Medicine (ABFM), or Emergency Medicine (ABEM); board certification must be in hand at presentation
  • Active, unrestricted Tennessee medical license required
  • Active DEA with Tennessee address and CDS/CSR covering schedules II-V
  • Credentialing: hospital privileges required
  • Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS required; NRP required if not ABEM certified
  • Experience: residency-trained in IM, FM, or EM; new graduates considered
  • Documentation: case logs from the past 2 years, preeclampsia-eclampsia CME, and immunization records (MMR, Varicella, TB)
