Patient population and volume
- Adults and pediatrics (Nursery Level I)
- Average daily census: 15 patients
- Admissions: 2 per night
- Typical phone consults: 3 per night
- Rounding: as needed during night shift
Facility and support
- EMR: MediTech (preferred experience)
- Nursing support: 4 RNs
- Temporary hospital privileges available (hospital privileges not required prior)
Required procedures and skills
Required:
- Non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP) management
- Mechanical ventilation management (adult & pediatric; acute, chronic)
- Intubation (adult, pediatric, newborn; ENT/INT)
- Chest tube placement
- Central line placement (including PICC and arterial lines; PA catheter)
- EKG interpretation
- Inpatient care including PICU-level support and Nursery Level I
- Attend C-sections/high-risk deliveries and deliveries
- Conscious and deep sedation
Preferred:
- Inpatient with ICU experience
- Echocardiogram and cardiac stress test familiarity
- Nursery Level II/NICU experience
Requirements
- Board certified
- Licensed in Michigan or holds IMLC (Universal License)
- Active Michigan controlled substance license and DEA registration
- BLS and ACLS current
- Must be onsite for 1-day orientation prior to coverage
- Must be within 20 minutes of facility during coverage
Duties
- Provide night call coverage for hospitalist inpatient service
- Respond to calls and new admissions within 20 minutes
- Manage average census ( 15) and admissions ( 2/night)
- Perform inpatient rounding and required procedures as above
