Call-Back Expectations
  • Providers may need to return to the hospital approximately every 3-4 shifts for:
    • Sick newborn evaluations
    • High-risk deliveries requiring newborn attendance
    • Neonatal resuscitations
    • Pediatric admissions
    • Urgent pediatric care needs
Practice Overview
  • Acute Care Hospital
  • Adult Trauma Level IV Facility
  • Low-volume pediatric hospitalist service
  • Focus on newborn and general pediatric inpatient care
  • Stable patients remain local; higher-acuity patients are transferred for advanced care
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Daily newborn rounding
  • Pediatric inpatient rounding
  • Attendance at deliveries when newborn resuscitation is anticipated
  • Newborn stabilization and evaluation
  • Pediatric admissions and consults
  • Coordination of transfers when higher-level care is required
Acuity & Support
  • Critically ill pediatric patients are transferred to a tertiary care center
  • Sick newborns requiring advanced neonatal services are transferred
  • Providers are not expected to manage ongoing critical pediatric or neonatal ICU-level care
Ideal Candidate
  • Minnesota-licensed Pediatrician or Family Medicine physician with strong pediatric experience
  • NRP certified
  • Comfortable with newborn care and delivery attendance
  • Able to independently evaluate and stabilize pediatric and neonatal patients
  • Interested in a lower-volume pediatric hospitalist practice with occasional urgent call-back needs
