Job Description
Our client, a respected academic medical center in Brooklyn, NY, is hiring a Hospitalist, Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine Physician to join their dedicated healthcare team. This is an urgent and critical staffing need, with a focus on providing high-quality inpatient care to the geriatric population within a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with Internal Medicine residents in a collaborative academic environment, providing mentorship and clinical teaching in the care of complex geriatric patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage inpatient medical care for adult and geriatric patients in a 220-bed hospital setting.
  • Coordinate with consulting specialists and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient management.
  • Work closely with Internal Medicine residents providing mentorship and clinical teaching in the care of complex geriatric patients.
  • Participate actively in discharge planning and transitions of care to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Engage in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to uphold the hospital's standards of excellence.
  • Contribute to shaping and building this newly created, inpatient-only role within the hospital.
  • Schedule options: Inpatient-only with a Monday-Friday schedule, 40 hours per week OR 7 on/ 7 off schedule also available

Requirements:
  • MD or DO medical degree with a current license to practice in New York.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Geriatric Medicine.
  • Strong communication skills with a team-oriented approach.
  • Interest in inpatient geriatric care and collaboration.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Prior inpatient geriatric or internal medicine experience preferred but not mandatory; fresh graduates with relevant rotations are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality care.
  • Willingness to participate in teaching opportunities if available.
  • No hospice or palliative care responsibilities required.
