PERM - Internal Medicine Hospitalist - Nocturnist
VHS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Internal Medicine Hospitalist to join our esteemed team in Dothan, Alabama. This full-time nocturnist role offers an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality inpatient care within a well-established hospitalist program at Southeast Health, a leading 420-bed regional referral center. Join a dynamic practice committed to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care in a supportive environment, with a focus on work-life balance through a 7 on/7 off schedule and 12-hour night shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide inpatient care for unassigned patients presenting to the emergency department requiring hospitalization.
- Manage transfers and conduct in-hospital consultations.
- Admit and co-manage adult patients, including those in critical care, with support from intensivists.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including 24/7 pulmonary/critical care support and subspecialty services.
- Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and patient management.
- Support limited coverage for select primary care patients in private practice.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Board-certified or eligible in Internal Medicine.
- Residency training in Internal Medicine.
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, critical care, or related fields.
- Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with EPIC EMR.
- Prior night shift or nocturnist experience.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS or ATLS.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Internal Medicine residency completion.
- Minimum of 2 years of hospitalist or inpatient care experience preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Active Alabama medical license or eligibility.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care.
- Flexibility to work night shifts on a 7 on/7 off schedule.
