Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner

Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant opportunity in Cedar Rapids, IA

Great opportunity to join our well-established team of 14 physicians and 8 APPs. Work alongside a Medical Director, an Associate Medical Director, two clinical performance nurses, and a Program Manager.

Scheduling:

• We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for both our day and swing shifts with full and part-time schedules.
• Our schedule is relatively predictable, so our team typically works 7-days-on, 7-days-off.
• Generally, our Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants will work 7 am-5 pm and 4 pm-2 am, rounding during the day shift (average of 12 patients per shift) and focusing on admissions during the evening shift (average of 7-8 admissions per shift). However, volumes can ebb and flow depending on the time of year and staffing.
• Highly autonomous role

Key Responsibilities:

• Even though our nurse practitioners/physician assistants don t provide ICU coverage, our physicians may assist from a medical management perspective from time to time.
• Our team is highly engaged, so we respond to codes and rapid alerts on our patients and assist if one is called and we are nearby; we try to help each other in any way we can.
• We meet monthly for a team meeting and a patient experience touch base. We also have a short morning huddle daily to secure handoffs and ensure everyone is ready for the day.

Requirements:

• Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant board certification is required
• At least 1 year of acute care hospitalist experience preferred.
