Hospitalist Physician

Medical Director - Hospitalist opening in NY Located in Elmira, NY Full-Time, PermanentArnot Health is seeking a Medical Director of Hospitalist Services to lead its inpatient hospitalist program in Elmira. This role offers a mix of clinical practice and administrative leadership, with responsibility for hospitalist operations, quality improvement, provider engagement, and inpatient care performance.

• Lead a high-impact hospitalist service within a respected regional healthcare system
• Maintain an active inpatient clinical practice
• Oversee staffing models, coverage, scheduling, service-line metrics, productivity, census management, and operational efficiency
• Drive quality outcomes, length-of-stay initiatives, readmission improvement, and patient care performance
• Develop and monitor clinical protocols, best practices, and quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards
• Participate in hospital committees, leadership meetings, and strategic planning
• Promote physician engagement, team collaboration, and a culture of continuous improvement
• Mentor and support hospitalist physicians and clinical team members
Schedule & Practice Setting:
• Clinical shifts: 7:00 AM-7:00 PM
• Mid-shift: 3:00 PM-3:00 AM
• Average census: 20-25 patients per day
• Closed ICU
• No procedures required
• Step-down unit support
• Epic EMR preferred
Compensation & Recruitment Package:
• Base salary range: $300,000 - $320,000
• Leadership/administrative stipend or performance-based bonus
• Relocation assistance available
Job Qualifications:
• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine
• Hospitalist experience required
• Prior leadership or administrative experience preferred
• Eligible for or currently holding a New York State medical license
• Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Collaborative leadership style
• Experience mentoring or coaching physicians preferred
