- Ongoing locum tenens opportunity
- Schedule: Three (3) consecutive 24-hour in-house shifts (72-hour block) within a 7-day period
- One Pediatric Hospitalist on service at a time
- EMR: Epic
- Estimated credentialing: 90 days
Practice Details
- 8-bed inpatient pediatric unit
- Maximum census of approximately 5 patients per shift
- 24/7 in-house coverage (no home call)
- Care for newborns through adolescents
- Patient population includes infants 32 weeks gestational age and older
- Primarily low-acuity with occasional moderate-acuity patients
- Rapid transfer process available for higher-acuity cases
Clinical Responsibilities
- Inpatient pediatric admissions and rounding
- Emergency Department pediatric consultations
- Newborn nursery coverage
- Level II nursery coverage (32+ week infants)
- Attend deliveries and C-sections as needed
- Stabilize newborns prior to transfer when necessary
- Collaborate with OB/GYN, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, NICU, and pediatric specialists
Procedures
Providers should be comfortable performing:
- Pediatric intubation
- Neonatal intubation
- Central line placement
- Delivery attendance
- Conscious sedation
- Non-invasive ventilation management
Requirements
- BC/BE in Pediatrics
- Active Minnesota license (or IMLC eligibility)
- BLS
- PALS
- NRP preferred/required by facility
- Recent Pediatric Hospitalist experience
