Coverage Requirements:

• Provide hospitalist care during nighttime hours
• Cover an open ICU environment and PCU
• Participate in the code team
• Work collaboratively with hospital colleagues across departments
• Provide high-quality patient care throughout the overnight shift
• Participate in committees and hospital-wide quality initiatives

Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Hospital Capacity:

• 205 licensed acute care beds
• 52 medical-surgical beds
• 12 PCU beds

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive hospitalist care during overnight hours
• Manage patients in the open ICU
• Provide care for PCU patients
• Respond to acute clinical changes
• Participate in the hospital code team
• Coordinate care with daytime intensivists
• Utilize nighttime intensivist consultation support when needed
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff across hospital departments
• Participate in hospital committees
• Contribute to hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives
• Support efforts to reduce hospital-acquired infections (HAIs)

Critical Care Support

ICU Model:

Daytime Support:

Intensivist coverage available during the day

Nighttime Support:

Physician nocturnists provide overnight coverage with intensivist consultation support available as needed.

Requirements

• BLS Certification - Required
