Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine physicians needed for 24/7 inpatient hospital medicine coverage.
The Opportunity
We are seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible Hospital Medicine physicians to provide on-site inpatient coverage at the VA Fargo Health Care System, 2101 Elm Street N, Fargo, ND 58102. This is a non-personal services engagement under VA Health Care Resources Sharing Authority (38 U.S.C. 8153) you will not be a VA employee. Two physicians are required on site at all times, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Structure
Single blended hourly rate. You manage your own travel and lodging.
Lower clinical hourly rate. We directly book and pay for your travel, lodging, and ground transportation.

Round-trip travel booked and paid for each rotation

Schedule
- 24/7 hospital medicine coverage, two 12-hour shifts daily: 7:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. (day) and 7:00 p.m. 7:00 a.m. (night), local time
- 0 FTE openings; standard FTE definition is 2,184 hours/year (7-on/7-off, 12-hour shift pattern, every other pay cycle, inclusive of federal holidays)
- Minimum of 2 Board Certified/Board Eligible hospitalists on site daily
- Replacement coverage required within 2 hours if a scheduled physician cannot begin or complete a shift
- Base period of performance: 12/1 30/2027, with option periods to follow
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine (Hospital Medicine)
- Current, full and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or D.C.; North Dakota license preferred
- No history of license restriction, suspension, revocation, voluntary surrender pending action, or denial upon application
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or VHA-recognized equivalent
- Ability to obtain VA credentialing and privileging (VHA Directive 1100.20 / 1100.21) prior to starting any shift
- Active or obtainable National Provider Identifier (NPI) and current DEA registration
- Fluent spoken and written English; verifiable education and training history with no unexplained gaps
- Current documentation of TB screening (TST/IGRA), MMR and varicella immunity, Tdap (1 dose), and annual influenza vaccination (or approved exemption)
- Completion of bloodborne pathogen exposure training and Hepatitis B vaccination series (or documented declination)
- Not listed on the HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities
- Eligible to work in the U.S.; compliance with E-Verify and Immigration and Nationality Act requirements
- Willingness to carry professional liability (malpractice) insurance, workers' compensation, and standard income tax withholding as an independent contractor/locum (federal tort claims coverage does not extend to contract physicians)
