Assignment
- Locum tenens inpatient hospitalist with ICU responsibilities
- 100% inpatient practice in a community hospital
Schedule & Shift
- 7 days on / 7 days off
- Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM with nighttime call coverage
Onboarding & Systems
- Orientation: 1 day
- Proctoring: 2-3 days onsite; five successfully proctored cases required per applicable procedure to obtain hospital privileges
- EMR: Epic; dictation via Dragon
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide full-spectrum inpatient hospitalist and ICU care for adults
- Manage critically ill patients, including respiratory failure and ventilator management/weaning
- Perform admissions, daily rounds, consultations, discharges
- Perform emergency responses and cover overnight call as required
- Coordinate care with nursing, respiratory therapy, specialists, and ancillary teams
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Epic using Dragon
Required Procedural Competencies
- Moderate sedation
- Lumbar puncture
- Endotracheal intubation and extubation; assessment for intubation
- Ventilator management and oxygen therapy, including weaning
- Paracentesis and thoracentesis
- Chest tube insertion; management of tension pneumothorax
- PICC and central venous line placement
- Arterial line insertion and removal
- Tracheostomy care, including tube changes
- External pacing (temporary epicardial, transvenous, transcutaneous)
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
- Significant Critical Care/ICU experience required
- Current ACLS certification
- Active Michigan medical license or eligibility via IMLC
