What you'll be doing
You'll provide full-spectrum OB hospitalist coverage, including OB emergency department (OBED) and obstetrical triage. Typical responsibilities include evaluating, admitting, managing, and discharging unassigned obstetrical and gynecologic patients; responding to labor, deliveries, and obstetrical emergencies; and caring for complex, high-risk cases (including MFM and TOLAC). You'll perform and assist with deliveries, act as surgical first assist for cesarean sections when available, and provide emergency surgical management for unassigned gynecologic patients. Other duties include accepting transfers and coordinating transport for critically ill patients, responding to major obstetrical emergencies (e.g., hemorrhage and activation of massive transfusion), providing OB/GYN consults across the hospital, completing histories and physicals, and coordinating ongoing care with the care team. Accurate, timely documentation in Meditech and participation in quality improvement, patient safety, and fetal monitoring initiatives are also expected.
