A regional 86-bed acute-care hospital is seeking a skilled MD or DO to provide FMLA coverage beginning with orientation the week of September 14, 2026. The Opportunity
Step into an established inpatient medicine department, providing full-scope hospitalist care across general medical-surgical floors and a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit alongside experienced nursing and APP support staff.
- Clinical Scope: Manage adult inpatient floor care and ICU admissions, including:
- Assessing and managing complex acute inpatient populations
- Performing required ICU and inpatient procedures independently:
- Moderate sedation and endotracheal intubation / extubation
- Central venous line, arterial line, and chest tube placement
- Ventilator management and respiratory weaning
- Paracentesis and thoracentesis
- Moderate sedation and endotracheal intubation / extubation
- Utilizing Epic EMR with Dragon dictation for order entry and patient documentation
- Assessing and managing complex acute inpatient populations
- The Schedule & Coverage Blocks: 7-on / 7-off rotation (7:00 AM 7:00 PM Onsite with 7:00 PM 7:00 AM Overnight Call).
- Orientation Week: Week of September 14, 2026 (1 orientation day + 2 to 3 proctoring days).
- Coverage Dates: Sept , Oct 6 12, Oct , Nov 3 9, and Nov .
- Orientation Week: Week of September 14, 2026 (1 orientation day + 2 to 3 proctoring days).
- Clinical Support Structure: Collaborative team model supported by 1 ICU Hospitalist Physician, 2 Daytime APPs, and 1 Nighttime ICU APP.

- Degree & Specialty Scope: MD or DO; Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) in Adult Hospital Medicine. (Note: Physicians practicing exclusively as Intensivists or Pulmonologists will not be accepted).
- Licensure: Active Michigan State Medical License or active IMLC Letter of Qualification.
- Life Support: Active ACLS certification required.
- Case Logs & Experience: Minimum 50 verifiable inpatient case logs from the past 12 months with recent critical care and respiratory management experience.
- Procedural Competency: Independent proficiency in lines, intubation, vents, chest tubes, and taps required. (Optional procedures like LP, PICC, and tracheostomy care require on-site proctoring).
