Position Highlights
Predictable workflow
Manage patients with complex medical needs (vent weaning, post-ICU care, multi-system chronic illness)
Supportive interdisciplinary team including specialists, nursing, respiratory therapy, and case management
No rapid patient turnover typical of short-stay acute care hospitals
Journal club with PMA physicians.

Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of a physician, and using established and approved protocols.
Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care to LTAC patients
Coordinate care with consulting specialists and interdisciplinary teams
Perform admissions, daily rounds, and discharges as needed
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the EMR

Requirements:
Education/Licensure/Certifications:
Graduate of Accredited School offering an Advanced Degree in Nurse Practice (ARNP) and current, unrestricted California NP license OR
Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program and current California State Physician Assistant License, issued by Physician Assistant Board under the Medical Board of California
Current DEA certificate without restriction
ACLS required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Two years related NP/PA experience preferred.
Ability to prioritize and establish work standards and business goals.
Ability to relate to patients, their families, and members of the healthcare team in a tactful and professional manner
Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
Ability to provide medical services within the scope of licensing and training
