The Opportunity

A 346-bed HCA regional hospital founded in 1903, the first verified Level II Trauma Center in Louisiana and still the only trauma center in the central part of the state. Over 450 physicians across more than 30 specialties, a 34-bed ICU, and certified stroke care. The APP night and swing line handles six to nine admissions a night with a physician on call every night and intensivists covering codes and rapid responses. Central Louisiana means short commutes and a cost of living that leaves you something at the end of the month.

What You'll Own

• Six to nine admissions a night, plus cross-coverage, on a defined service.
• A choice of pattern: a 1p 1a swing or a 7p 7a night, in flexible blocks.
• Real backup. A physician on call every night, intensivists running codes and RRTs, and a closed ICU.
• Regional specialty depth 450+ physicians across 30+ specialties, so consults are available rather than theoretical.

Must-Haves

• NP or PA with at least one year of acute-care hospitalist experience
• Louisiana license, or eligibility in process
• Willingness to treat all ages, including young adolescents

Nice to Have

• Trauma centre experience
• Prior night or swing shift work
• Meditech familiarity

What Working Here Is Actually Like

• $150,000 $165,000 annually at full-time volume, W-2.
• Full W-2 benefits. Medical, dental and vision from the first of the month after hire; employer-paid life at 1x salary up to $300,000; employer-paid long-term disability at 60% of salary; 401(k). The benefit plan year runs 1 October to 30 September.
• Malpractice and tail both covered. Tail is the one people forget to ask about until they leave.

• Flexible blocks swing or nights, built around what you can actually work.
• Physician-owned and physician-managed since 2012. When you escalate a problem, it reaches a physician who still works clinical shifts.

Straight Talk

Louisiana requires physician co-signature on APP documentation a state rule, not a comment on your autonomy, but it shapes the workflow and you should know it before you arrive. You will also see young adolescents on this service, which not every hospitalist APP wants.
