Medical Officer of the Day

Location:

Schedule: Evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage
Position Overview Sygnetics is seeking experienced Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine Physicians to provide Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) coverage supporting Veterans at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center.
The physician will provide clinical coverage for Urgent Care, Acute/Inpatient Care, and Community Living Center patients, respond to medical emergencies and Code Blue events, evaluate and treat patients, coordinate admissions/transfers, and complete required clinical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide urgent, inpatient, and Community Living Center medical coverage
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients within granted clinical privileges
  • Respond immediately to medical emergencies and Code Blue events
  • Serve as Code Director when required
  • Order and review appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies
  • Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, referrals, and discharges
  • Enter orders, medications, progress notes, H&Ps, and other documentation in VA electronic medical systems
  • Collaborate with VA physicians, nursing staff, and other clinical personnel
  • Maintain timely and accurate medical documentation

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in:
    • Internal Medicine
    • Family Medicine/Family Practice, or
    • Emergency Medicine
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
  • Current BLS and ACLS
  • Current NPI
  • Current DEA registration, as applicable
  • Ability to complete VA credentialing and privileging
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently

Schedule Coverage includes day and overnight tours, including weekdays, weekends, and federal holidays. Physicians must remain on VA Medical Center grounds throughout their assigned tour of duty.
