About the Position
A BC/BE Internal Medicine Hospitalist is sought for a unique academic faculty position combining inpatient hospital medicine with undergraduate medical education. This innovative role offers a balanced 50/50 clinical and academic appointment, providing the opportunity to help build a new medical school while maintaining an active inpatient practice.

-Full-time employed academic faculty position
-50% Clinical / 50% Academic appointment
-One inpatient service week per month (7 consecutive 12-hour shifts)
-Protected academic time supporting all four years of the medical school curriculum
-Founding faculty opportunity with a newly established medical school
-Collaborative model with a core group of four academic hospitalists

Practice Setting
-Inpatient Internal Medicine service
-EPIC electronic medical record
-Multidisciplinary team including nursing, pharmacy, case management, and consulting specialists
-Academic appointment with a community-based medical school
-Collaborative teaching environment with medical students across all four years

Practice Highlights
-Provide comprehensive inpatient Internal Medicine care
-Manage admissions, consultations, observation patients, and transfers
-Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning
-Contribute to quality initiatives including patient safety, sepsis management, readmission reduction, and length-of-stay improvement
-Serve as a clinical educator during inpatient service
-Develop and deliver medical school curriculum
-Facilitate small-group learning, clinical skills training, simulation, and case-based education
-Teach bedside medicine and clinical reasoning during clerkships
-Mentor students throughout medical school and residency preparation
-Participate in curriculum development, academic committees, faculty development, and scholarly activity

Qualifications
-MD or DO
-Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
-Eligible for North Carolina medical licensure
-Strong inpatient Internal Medicine experience
-Teaching experience with medical students preferred

-Excellent communication, leadership, and collaborative skills
