Job Posting Description

Franciscan Children's Hospital, an affiliate of Boston Children's Hospital, is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to join a growing, mission-driven inpatient medical program for children with complex medical and rehabilitative needs. For physicians currently practicing in high-acuity tertiary centers, this role maintains clinical complexity and intellectual engagement while offering the time and perspective to optimize recovery, coordinate care across settings, and see the full arc of a patient's progress.
This is a unique opportunity to care for children as they move from acute hospitalization toward medical stability and a new functional baseline. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to move patients toward a shared goal of discharge to home or a lower level of care. It is an especially exciting time to join our team, as Franciscan Children's continues to deepen its clinical and academic partnership with Boston Children's Hospital. Together, we are expanding clinical programs and preparing to open a new state-of-the-art hospital in 2030.
Key Responsibilities

  • Coverage includes daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts.
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care to children with ongoing medical and rehabilitative needs following acute hospitalization
  • Manage technology-dependent patients (tracheostomy, ventilator support, gastrostomy tubes, central lines), focusing on weaning, optimization, and discharge readiness
  • Lead admissions, daily management, and discharge planning, emphasizing throughput and safe transition to home or lower levels of care
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team including PM&R, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, and nursing
  • Coordinate subspecialty care and align care plans with discharge goals
  • Partner with families on education, training, and readiness for care at home or in the community
