Franciscan Children’s Hospital, an affiliate of Boston Children’s Hospital, is seeking an innovative pediatric physician to join our growing inpatient medical team as a Pediatric Hospitalist and Assistant Medical Director. This newly created position combines the care of medically complex children with meaningful physician leadership. Approximately 80% of the role is inpatient clinical care, with 20% protected administrative time to partner with the Medical Director of the Inpatient Medical Units on initiatives that strengthen patient access, optimize clinical operations, and support the hospital’s continued growth.
This role is an exciting opportunity for a physician who is energized by caring for children with complex medical needs, improving systems of care, building multidisciplinary teams, and helping shape the future of pediatric post-acute and rehabilitative medicine. Whether you are an emerging physician leader looking to develop your leadership skills or an experienced physician ready to take on a broader leadership role, you will receive mentorship and hands-on experience in hospital operations, strategic planning, program development, and multidisciplinary leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Coverage includes daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts.
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care to children with complex medical and rehabilitative needs, including admissions, daily management, care coordination, and discharge planning
  • Partner with the Medical Director and nursing and clinical leaders to support the quality, safety, and effective operation of the inpatient medical units
  • Serve as a physician leader and resource for the multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration across medical, nursing, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation, and other clinical disciplines
  • Participate in clinical review of referrals and support admission decisions for medically complex pediatric patients
  • Contribute to development and implementation of clinical programs, pathways, and models of care as Franciscan Children’s continues to grow
  • Mentor and support physicians and advanced practice providers and contribute to education and professional development
  • Contribute to the long-term vision as Franciscan Children’s prepares to open a new hospital in 2030, with expanded inpatient capacity and state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation facilitie
